Halloween at JR Direct

On a spooky Halloween afternoon, the JR Direct staff gathered together for some treats, judging of the Costume and Pumpkin Carving Contest, and a game of Halloween Trivia.

Did you know that the average North American child ate 24 pounds of candy a year or that the part of the world that Halloween is most popular in is Ireland? Well apparently Julia Cooper did as she was the winner of the trivia contest!

There were several submissions for the Pumpkin carving contest this year with all sorts of different designs. The winner of the contest was Paul Dickson with his two headed Siamese twin pumpkins. Tammy Thackray was runner up with her witchy creation.

Many JR Direct staff came to work decked out in costumes ranging from Marge Simpson, a Go Go Girl, a Chef, a Bottle of Ranier Beer, a Witch, a Camp Counselor, a Mexican, a Skeleton, to a few Hillbillies.

The costume contest was for Most Creative Costume and Scariest Costume. Some creative costumes included the Easter Bunny’s Helper, Gap Girl, Friday Sonia (Sonia wearing jeans), but the winning vote went to the Black-eyed Peas! Tammy and Jen took the honours for this costume.

Some say scary, some say creepy. Morgan Cartier won for Scariest Costume. There was no blood or gore, but it was scary nonetheless. Morgan’s costume was a turtle. Seems pretty benign right? Well, when an adult wear’s a child’s costume that’s midriff bearing and when the “hands” and “feet” come up to the elbows and knees, it makes a frightening sight! Well done to all of the winners of our various contests!
