The Growing Years.

On August 26th staff presented their strategic plan for 2006. The half day presentation is an annual event where JR Direct formalizes goals, budgets and the overall focus for the year to come.

This year JR Direct adopted the theme of “The Growing Years” and was extended to include a new 2 year plan allowing less time committed to the planning and more time to working the plan.

The day began with an informal presentation opening with words of reflection from the President Jim Ripplinger. Tammy Thackray, General Manager, without whom these annual planning sessions would not be possible, then lead the presentation introducing each department as they identified their key success areas for the coming year.

Each presentation gave new enlightenment on specific departmental goals. Each department had their own unique way of presenting their plan which added a few laughs to the day and got everyone pumped for the afternoon’s event.

After feasting on a wonderful lunch, staff headed off for an afternoon of team building exercises which was appropriately titled “JR Directs Amazing Race”. Lead by personal trainers PJ & Terry of Muscle Memory, staff were broken into teams and directed to decipher clues and compete in challenges. Starting off a little rocky, our teams quickly sorted out strengths and weaknesses and competed as if there was a $1,000,000 at stake, a very common trait for the hard working, and enthusiastic employees of JR Direct.

The day finished with token gifts presented to the winners and a final group shot to commemorate another successful strategic planning day for JR Direct.
